When I started painting, my goal was to make a beautiful, serene oceanscape for my living room. So I signed up for a watercolor class. That was in 2007. Since that time I've experimented with all kinds of media, always returning to watercolor. But this year I discovered oil. And a new world opened up for me.

New experiences and travels are always inspiring and a day on the Smith Creek Playa for the World Landsailing  Championship was all I needed to put down my watercolor brushes (for a while) and give the oils a try. I'm loving it!

I enjoy the freedom I feel when I'm painting with oils. There's an idea in my head when I start a painting, but there's also a point at which that idea can morph on the canvas into something unplanned and awesome. I always hope it happens and when it does, all I can do is stand back and smile.

Seven years ago what started out as an experiment quickly turned into a talent I am now able to share with others. Painting is a big part of my life and my list of ideas just keeps on growing.

Still no painting on that living room wall:)
